Government Announces 86,500 New Job Approvals for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 Fiscal Years

The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has announced 86,500 new job approvals for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 fiscal years as part of efforts to strengthen service delivery through Ministries, Departments, Government Institutions, Regional Secretariats, and Local Government Authorities.

Speaking to the media in Dodoma on October 11, 2025, the Permanent Secretary of the President’s Office – Public Service Management, Mr. Juma Mkomi, stated that these jobs cover various sectors, including Education, Health, Agriculture, Engineering, and other key areas.

For the 2024/25 fiscal year, the government approved 45,000 positions, with implementation starting on April 29, 2025. Of these, 30,863 positions have already been filled and assigned to workplaces, 6,701 have completed the interview process and will be assigned in October 2025, while 7,436 positions are expected to be finalized by November 2025.

For the 2025/26 fiscal year, the government has approved 41,500 new positions across various institutions, including 12,176 teaching positions and 10,280 health sector roles, with immediate implementation.

Mr. Mkomi directed the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat to begin filling the 2025/26 positions while completing the placement of 2024/25 appointments. He also urged all employers to cooperate with the Secretariat to ensure all positions are filled in accordance with public service laws, regulations, and procedures.

To reduce costs and improve efficiency, interviews will be conducted in all regions of mainland Tanzania and in designated centers in Zanzibar, allowing applicants from different areas to participate conveniently.

Mr. Mkomi added that applicants who pass the interviews but are not immediately assigned will be placed on a waiting list and assigned when new vacancies arise. Appointment letters will be available through the Employment Portal in the applicants’ personal accounts.

He emphasized that the government will continue to approve jobs according to sectoral needs to ensure the delivery of quality services to the Tanzanian public.
